    PMI turned-grade ball screw

    Introduction to Turned-Grade Ball Screws

The manufacturing process and equipment used by PMI for producing rolled-ball screws at the turning stage differ from those employed by other manufacturers. Our company utilizes advanced turning technology combined with a numerically controlled thread-rolling machine imported from Bad Duben, Germany. We maintain stringent quality controls throughout the entire process—from the selection of screw material and turning operations to intermediate-frequency surface heat treatment and post-processing—ensuring that our products meet the highest quality standards required by our customers.

The combination of a precision-ground ball screw and a ground-class nut replaces the conventional transmission methods using Acme lead screws and trapezoidal lead screws, offering advantages such as smoother operation, reduced friction, and minimized axial backlash. Additionally, this solution features rapid delivery and low cost.

    PMI Turned-Grade Ball Screw Features

The nuts used for turning have high precision.

The manufacturing process for turned-grade nuts is identical to that of ground-grade nuts. After surface hardening treatment, they are precisely ground using an internal thread grinding machine to ensure durability and smooth operation.

    High nut interchangeability

When the screw and nut are without preload, within the allowable maximum axial backlash, screws of the same specification can be fitted with nuts of different designs.

Lead accuracy of turned and ground ball screw (e₃₀₀)

According to ISO 3408-3, the definition of lead accuracy for PMI turned and ground ball screws is: Within the effective thread length, the allowable cumulative lead error over any 300 mm segment, as specified in Table 1.

Table 1: Comparison of Lead Accuracy

e ₃₀₀ (Allowable cumulative lead error over any 300 mm within the effective thread length range)

Single-axis robot – KP (Black) series

The single-axis robot’s distinctive modular design, featuring a dual combination of ball screws and linear guides, significantly streamlines installation and replacement processes while ensuring long service life. Compared to conventional linear-stage systems, which require careful selection of guiding and driving components, repeated adjustments and rigorous testing, and often suffer from bulky dimensions and space constraints, the KP single-axis robot series offers a cost-effective solution. It provides advantages such as convenient installation, rapid integration, high rigidity, and a compact footprint, thereby reducing both the client’s installation time and the required environmental space for deployment. The contact surfaces between the four-way equal-load ball bearings and the bearing grooves are all designed at a 45° angle.

Rotary Series – Rotary Precision Ball Screws/Keyways RBLY Series

Rotary Series—Precision Ball Screw/Spline with Rotary Function: The RBLY series rotary ball screw spline enables three types of motion—rotation, helical motion, and linear motion—using just a single shaft, thanks to the ability to rotate or stop either the nut or the outer sleeve. 1. Zero backlash in rotational direction, ensuring high positioning accuracy; 2. High-speed performance with smooth operation; 3. Low noise level; 4. Easy installation and space-saving design. Applications include horizontal multi-joint robotic arms (SCARA), industrial robots, automatic loaders, laser processing machines, conveying systems, and ATC devices for machining centers, among other equipment.

Rotary Series – Rotary Precision Ball Screws/Keyways RSLY Series

Rotary Series—Precision Ball Screws and Splines in the RSLY Series: The distinctive rotary ball screw spline allows for three types of motion—rotation, helical movement, and linear motion—using just a single shaft, achieved by rotating or stopping either the nut or the outer sleeve. 1. Zero backlash in rotational direction, ensuring high positioning accuracy; 2. High-speed performance with smooth operation; 3. Low noise level; 4. Easy installation and space-saving design. Applications include horizontal multi-joint robotic arms (SCARA), industrial robots, automatic loaders, laser processing machines, conveying systems, and ATC devices for machining centers, among other equipment.

Rotary Series – Rotary Precision Ball Screws/Keyways RBBY Series

Rotary Series—Precision Ball Screw/Spline with Rotary Motion: The RBBY series rotary ball screw spline enables three types of motion—rotation, helical movement, and linear motion—using just a single shaft by allowing the nut or outer sleeve to rotate or remain stationary. 1. Zero backlash in rotational direction, ensuring high positioning accuracy; 2. High-speed performance with smooth operation; 3. Low noise level; 4. Easy installation and space-saving design. Applications include horizontal multi-joint robotic arms (SCARA), industrial robots, automatic loaders, laser processing machines, conveying systems, and ATC devices for machining centers, among other equipment.
